Pathfinder was a year long project that I did for my 2nd year in Creative Digital Media. It involved extensive group work and the development of a concept that would later become a working prototype. In this project I was working alongside 3 other students Aoghan McConnel, Lucia Roth, and Martyna Sabas (kody) with my role as the team leader and app developer.
Our project brief was to make a creative media project based on the single word of "balance". We did this by extensively generating and developing ideas until we picked one that everyone liked. We initially jumped a lot between our outputs choices with the 2 leading options being a game and short film that are focused on the lack of balance. As we ideated these ideas more we came to the group agreement of an app that will encourage its users to live a more balanced lifestyle, this app would be called "Pathfinder".

With a clear vision of what we wanted to make, we began to develop this idea further. We knew that this app had to be fun and game-like so that it would be easy to use and hard to forget. In order to achieve this effect we did an extensive amount of research on gamification and ludology, looked into the "what" and "why" of all game types and what makes them "games". With this research done we had paved a path towards our goal and proceeded with 2 key tasks, brand identity and prototype development.
During this time we had split into 2 sub groups with myself and Lucia being in charge of the prototype development, including the wireframe creation and the visualised development within Figma. On the other end Martyna and Aoghan developed the brands visual identity by a means of logo creation, colour generation and visual llustrations.
